When Auto-Correct Is NOT Correct!

During last week's icy and snowy weather, Jamison's school was closed for a couple of days. He and I were home together Monday morning, then Jim joined us mid-day. While texting my daughter about how our day went, I told her that we had had a fun time and that he was perfectly behaved. She attempted to message me, "He loves his Meemaw and Geegaw time" and her auto-correct changed it to, "He loves his enema garage time"! After making a few wise cracks and laughing my head off, I decided that these "smart" phones aren't as intelligent as they think they are!
My new phone is just like this but I put a pink case on it because, you know, it HAS to be pink!
Hope that gave you a giggle and thanks for stopping by!

Cookie Recipe Swap~Church Lady Cookies

HI Everyone! I hope you're all in a cookie baking and eating mood because this cookie recipe swap is guaranteed to be filled with loads of yummy, irresistible recipes you won't want to miss! My recipe swap partner was Grandma Loy of Grandma Loy's Kitchen. She sent me a recipe that she originally received from a lady at church. Thus the name, Church Lady Cookies!

These are no ordinary, run-of-the-mill cookies. A unique combination of ingredients makes them chewy, soft, crispy and enticingly sweet! Are your taste buds begging for the recipe yet? Well, here it is: recipe:

Church Lady Cookies

1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. vegetable oil
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 c. cereal like Rice Krispies
1 c. oats, quick or old fashioned (I use quick)
1 c. coconut  (coconut and nuts can be toasted, if desired)
1/2 to 1 c. walnuts or other nuts

Directions:

Combine sugar, brown sugar and butter together until well blended  Add vegetable oil, egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.  Combine flour, baking soda and salt and mix well. Stir flour mixture into sugar mixture, mixing well. Stir in cereal, oats, coconut and nuts.  Drop by teaspoon-fulls onto ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 degree for 12 to 15 minute or until lightly browned around edges.  Remove to wire rack to cool.  Makes about 6 dozen cookies

These awesome treats are so delicious, even Santa made an early stop to enjoy a few!

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! Gift Card Drawing!

Tonight was the big night - no, not more all night shopping at the malls LOL! This was the night I drew the winner of the Pay It Forward $50 gift card of your choice! Thank you to those who participated! I really appreciate it!

First, I wrote all the names from the comments on their own pieces of paper,

Then, I scrunched the papers all up tight.

After that, I shook them up and threw them onto my keyboard.

Then, oh the suspense was killing me! I closed my eyes, hovered my hand around my keyboard a few time and dove in to pick an entry!

I unfolded the scrunched up paper which read:

CONGRATULATIONS JUNK CHIC COTTAGE!!!! Please send me your address and I'll get the card of your choice out to you immediately!

This was my first give away and I really enjoyed holding it. I think I'll do another some time!
Hugs, Leena
