Cookie Recipe Swap~Church Lady Cookies

HI Everyone! I hope you're all in a cookie baking and eating mood because this cookie recipe swap is guaranteed to be filled with loads of yummy, irresistible recipes you won't want to miss! My recipe swap partner was Grandma Loy of Grandma Loy's Kitchen. She sent me a recipe that she originally received from a lady at church. Thus the name, Church Lady Cookies!

These are no ordinary, run-of-the-mill cookies. A unique combination of ingredients makes them chewy, soft, crispy and enticingly sweet! Are your taste buds begging for the recipe yet? Well, here it is: recipe:

Church Lady Cookies

1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. vegetable oil
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 c. cereal like Rice Krispies
1 c. oats, quick or old fashioned (I use quick)
1 c. coconut  (coconut and nuts can be toasted, if desired)
1/2 to 1 c. walnuts or other nuts

Directions:

Combine sugar, brown sugar and butter together until well blended  Add vegetable oil, egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.  Combine flour, baking soda and salt and mix well. Stir flour mixture into sugar mixture, mixing well. Stir in cereal, oats, coconut and nuts.  Drop by teaspoon-fulls onto ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 degree for 12 to 15 minute or until lightly browned around edges.  Remove to wire rack to cool.  Makes about 6 dozen cookies

  1. Hi Leena. Glad you liked the recipe. I think they are really great cookies. You saw my post so you know that we thought your recipe was delicious. I have asked my daughter to pick up two big jars of maraschino cherries the next time she goes to Costco. I want to make these for my Christmas cookie platters this year. Have a great weekend.
