Hydrangea Madness!

I have a few hydrangeas planted in my yard and I love them!  I featured one HERE last year and thought I'd share more with you.

Anyone who has ever grown or admired these gorgeous plants is probably familiar with the variety of colors they come in. The color is often dictated by the amount of acid in the soil, so they can change from one hue to another unexpectedly. This year, I have PINK

WHITE and

my usual BLUE.

What's different this year is that all three of these beautiful colors are growing ON THE SAME PLANT!

This has never happened before and I think it's because of the introduction of mulch that came from shredding a neighbor's downed tree. Whatever the reason, it was a very nice surprise!

I didn't know too much about hydrangeas when I first planted them and thought that they all grew those wonderful fluffy balls of colorful blooms. Imagine my disappointment when two of my plants never did! They would bloom, but the flowers were small, a bit scraggly and never formed the orbs that I expected. After some research, I have discovered that these plants are perfectly normal.  They are just a different variety, called Lace Caps. What a cute name for such delicate blossoms!

A few of my lilies are starting to bloom and with enough sunshine, I may be able to share them with you next week. I'm also going to be adding some more perennials and working on the beds, budget and injured back permitting.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you're having a fabulous summer!
Hugs, Leena

Comments and Responses

Hi y'all! Hope everybody is having a great day  ! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your visits and sweet comments! Unfortunately, I can't always respond to your comments via email because the return address is a "no-reply". When this happens, I respond on my blog. I always reply because I want everyone to know how much I love that they are here! Also, I have recently disabled receiving anonymous comments. I was getting so many spam comments and while they were automatically deleted from my blog (I guess because I they had  links in them) they would show up in my email and was just a pain to delete.

Thank you again for supporting my blog! Hugs, Leena
