After being tied up at home during Jim's 15 month recovery from his surgeries, we are a little more than stir crazy! I was reading Gallamore West's blog the other day (forgive me, I can't recall which one) that gave me an idea for the perfect escape plan. Where did we go? Well, while there, we saw lots of these
And ate a bunch of this
We were surrounded by others with the same idea
This particular place has been in operation since 1954 and is working hard to maintain an American family tradition
And we saw these two guys there
Now do you know where we went? The Family Drive-In Theater in Stephens City, Virginia! One of only 400 operating still in the United States and ranked #10, this theater is truly an American icon! We ate from the concession stand (best corn dogs ever!) got the giant bucket of popcorn ( not their largest though, which is a whopping 130 ounces!) and saw a double-feature (ticket price per adult, a mere $8.00!). Two movies for only $8.00? Such a deal! We didn't really care if we saw the first feature (Grown Ups 2) but were eager to see The Lone Ranger. It was a good movie, I got to see parts of the country that I hadn't seen since childhood and what can beat hearing The William Tell Overture while watching Silver stand on his hind legs before galloping away?
The movie let out around 1:00am, so we'd made arrangements to stay at a nearby Holiday Inn - comfy, quiet and clean! Today we're going to explore the area a little, see if we happen upon any good yard sales and then head for home - only an hour away. We hope to bring the grand babes up soon to see one of the cartoon movies playing. I think that they'll be awestruck at watching a movie on such a huge screen outdoors!
Do a search and see if you have a drive-in theater near you! It's worth a little road trip and so much fun!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Leena

Super Shopping!
I was reading our local newspaper the other day and became so excited! There are three, count them, THREE new stores coming to my area! Like, two miles away from my house! As in, no need to go to some crowded mall when I need or want something! You want to know the stores that are coming? OK, first is one of my favorite home décor shops, filled with interesting and unique items! It's Kirklands! Yay! I love this store! You can find so many different items at Kirklands in all styles and price ranges. I stopped in one day last week and picked up a couple of little goodies because, as luck would have it, I had recently discovered a gift card in my wallet that I forgot I had! Well tickle my funny bone and call me giggly! New store, new stuff and free? Yippie!
The second store I read about is going into the same strip mall as Kirklands. I've only been to this store twice before, and found some nice photo frames there and kitchen items. From their commercials, they seem to sell quite a variety of things, so you never quite know what will be in stock. That store is Big Lots!
I can't wait for this last store to open! I've heard so much about it from other bloggers and Face Bookers and have whined and moaned and lusted after the crafting and home décor items they have reported getting there. The nearest one to me is about 2 hours away - not exactly convenient. I must admit, when I read that "it" was opening a new store here, I squealed! Are you ready? It's........it's.......Hobby Lobby! Oh my gosh I can't wait to get in there and see all that I have been hearing about for years!
I'm normally not a big shopper, but I am a crafter and home décor nut so having these three new sources really thrills me to no end! I'll be reporting more as the last two open and I give them a whirl!
Thanks for dropping by - you know how much I love it when you take time to read my posts and I always love your comments! Have a great day! Hugs, Leena
