Honored, Old and Young at Heart

I have some home decor posts in the works, but since it has been so long since we've visited, I thought I'd quickly tell you about a few of life's recent happenings.

First, I hope all enjoyed a festive Easter! We had fun with the little ones dying eggs and they, my daughter and Jim were spoiled by yummy treats in their baskets. I usually play the Easter Bunny, but no, I don't have big ears or a fluffy tail.

Yesterday was a big day for Jamison. The 1st graders get daily reports and earn points which determine if they are on red, yellow, green or blue. Achieving a blue is like getting an excellent on a performance appraisal - it doesn't happen very often. He usually gets a green, which we are proud of. Yesterday, he came running into the house, yelling, "Meemaw! Meemaw! I got my first blue! " We whooped and hollered together; I was so proud of him! He even got an Honor Roll medal which he wore the rest of the day!

Later, Jim and I ran a few errands and our prescriptions were going to take an hour to fill. We decided to spend the time having dinner at IHOP. I saw the crowded parking lot and realized it was Senior Night. There were plenty of tables and I was happy to get my pancakes for dinner. There's just something so fun about having breakfast for dinner! I think it's a leftover from childhood when my mom would serve breakfast when my dad was out of town on business. When Jim asked the waiter about Senior Night, he assumed we were age qualified at 55, which we are, just barely, shudder, but he could have at least acted surprised or carded us or something! The good news?  We got 50% off our check!

The other "good" news? We got free Jello! Gee, had I known we were having Jello, I would have put in my teeth! Just kidding. I still have my teeth.

Today, my daughter had a meeting, so I stayed with Abigail (and Jamison once he came home). She wanted to do silly make-up and hair styles and while I tried to convince her that my hair was too short for ponytail holders, she had other ideas. I gave her 4 ponytails - two in the back and one on each side. I ended up with a little short one on each side and a toopie one on top of my head. Way attractive! We also had blue eye shadow and shiney pink lip gloss. Hard to tell in the picture, but we were two hot babes! We got quite a laugh from her mom when she got home.

So, that's the kind of stuff that goes on around here when I'm not painting, crafting or cleaning. I promise some home decor ramblings very soon! As always, thanks for stopping by!

Pink Bling!

I've been meaning to show you the way cool gift my oldest daughter, Brianna, gave me for Christmas! Yes, I know this is March and I don't mean to play "ghost of Christmas past" but I actually just started using it the other day. It's the grooviest cell phone cover! I hadn't used it yet because when we got our new phones in December, Jim purchased these rubber snap-on covers in hot pink, since I wasn't able to get a pink phone. Those covers, however, do not enclose the screen and I was always leery about putting my phone in my purse, for fear the screen would get damaged. Poor Jim had his in his jacket pocket the other day and accidentally hit it against his car - shattered screen! I decided I'd better switch cases before my phone suffered a similar fate.

Here it is - the new case!

This is the inside. Please excuse the flash but it was a very dark day and no matter what angle I tried, I couldn't avoid that glare! The inside is all soft, like velvet and has a plastic base to snap the phone into. And here's the really cool part:

The outside! It's a sparkly pink color with rhinestone embellishments on the corners and on the magnetic strap buckle. Pink and bling - my favorite combination! I'm so happy with the protection it gives my phone and with the snazzy look! She gave Jim a black one and hers has cats on it. They come in all kinds of designs and models to fit just about every smart phone. I must say, this was one of my favorite Christmas gifts!

My Mind Said What?

Good morning all!  I just woke up so confused! I was like, "Is this Saturday? I think it's Saturday.  Oh, yard sales! No, wait, snow on the ground."

 

Then, glancing at his side of the bed, "Oh! Jim's here. Bathroom's available. Did he get a movie role?" This was an hour after I had originally been awakened with remnants of a weird dream running through my pea brain. The setting was gangster 1920's era.

 

The plot involved Jim, the cousin of some mob boss guy, who wanted to get into show biz. His cousin was threatening my boss mob boss guy that he'd squeal to the Feds about all his illegal drinking joints if my boss mob boss guy didn't get Jim lined up with at least two movie roles, some voice overs and a couple of commercials. Nevermind the fact that there's no television, so other than the movie roles he'd have to settle for radio work. After a volley of "yeah, yeah, ya see" and other gangster language, I get stuck dragging the lunk (sorry baby, it's a mobster word) around the studios to get him movie roles.

I then became more awake, shook my head with an audible  "what the?" and slept for another hour. Maybe I'd better go back to sleep and post this later. Or, maybe I shouldn't!

 

 

In my own defense, I must tell you that Jim has been watching some gangster television show on his Kindle, and while I can't see it, I hear all the dialogue while I watch the Olympics. With that combination, I'm surprised there were no high-flying combination luge/ski jump chases in Model-T's!

The dog has nothing to do with the dream. I just thought he was cool!
